Everyone is getting into the poker craze, and a lot of people have learned the game to its most advanced levels. They are such great players that a normal game at a casino poker table or online poker rooms just do not present them with enough challenges. Hence,
the birth of poker tournaments. As with any game though, there are rules that need to be followed. Below are some general poker tournament rules:
- Seating arrangement is randomly generated and no switching of seats is allowed.
- The end of a tournament is marked by a player winning all the chips of a table.
- A player is eliminated from the tournament once all his chips are lost.
- At the event of a head-to-head, when there are only two players left, the player to whom the button is assigned will serve as the small blind as well as be the first to act.
- Tournament officials are allowed to move other players to different tables in order to keep the balance.
- Players are not allowed to deal amongst themselves during the tournament.
- Registered players who do not show up are automatically eliminated.
- Speaking among players is highly discouraged.
- Tournament officials have the right to cancel tournaments.
- Tournament officials have the right to reschedule tournaments.
- Observers may not speak with the players and disrupt the game at any point of the tournament.
- English is the only permitted language to be used during the tournament.
- Players may not discuss hands until after a round is played and a winner has been announced. Doing so will result in instant disqualification.
- Tournament officials have the right to kick out any players, freeze their accounts and impound their funds if they observe any fraudulent activities.
Casino house rules apply to players during tournaments. Unethical, rude and boisterous behavior may be grounds for disqualification.
