The dealer or banker dictates the amount for betting and this amount must be agreed upon by the table before the opening of cards commences. It all basically boils down on rooting that a match be born with the other cards before the dealer turns up two cards of the same rank. The dealer can do one of two things when his card is doubled; he can take the pot and give his banker position to someone else in the table, or he can keep the pot there with hopes of doubling his winnings. Hey, who knew  that even a victory can be gambled?

There are two kinds of Liar’s Poker: the betting game, and the card game. The betting game is played by having each player draw a bill from a random bundle of cash taken usually from the cash register. Based on the serial numbers of their bills, each player now has a unique eight number combination. Each person gets a chance to bid on the number of people who hold a lot of digits of the same number in the serial numbers of their corresponding bills. Bids get outshot by (a) the value of the digits and (b) the number of digits present in each bill’s serial number. For instance, 2 eights is higher than 2 fours but 3 fours is higher than 2 eights. Eventually the bid will reach ludicrous heights – for example, 8 fours – and one of the players will call the bidder a liar, noting that it is impossible for the combined serial number of all players to contain such. The winner is the last person standing when all others have been called on their bluffs or if they attempt to disprove a truthful bid.

The other kind of Liar’s Poker is a card game wherein each player is given one card plus the number of penalties they’ve incurred. The players are allowed to examine their own cards but are forbidden from divulging information about their own hands to other players. Just like the betting game, players are now going to take turns on bidding the poker hand that is formed by combining the cards of all players, as opposed to the serial numbers from the other kind of liar’s poker. That is mainly the difference in the two games; objectives and rules of play remain the same. Of course, the poker hands are rooted from the poker rules and there are no “special hands” designed for this game, save for the fact that deuces are wild cards.

The scratch card is one of the most popular things a person spends money on in order to try and win. This is because it usually comes in cheap, and if luck sides with you, the card you purchase just may give you good returns. On average, though, a scratch card only offers minor prizes – for instance, in a fast food chain, a promo they have involving a scratch card may win you nothing more than a free drink or free fries.

Scratch cards come in different variations. The classic scratch cards are those that require you to match at least three symbols for you to win a prize. The generation of symbols for the production of scratch cards is random, and so there is no way of telling whether or not you have a winning card with matching symbols on them. The Passe-Dix is known in English as the game of Passage. It makes use of three dice, involves a banker all the time, and can be played by an unlimited number of players. Each player places down money for the turn, and in a game of more than two, the gamester at the time is considered the banker for that moment. The player rolls the three dice, and the goal is to get a value above tenin order to be able to stay in the game. A player that rolls a value below ten loses his stake in the game to the banker, and when the player rolls a value above ten, the banker must double his stake.

Now the English game, Passage, quite differs from the passe-dix. In passage, the players try to guess a number that will show up and will give points depending on the results of the roll. If a player gives a number between one and six and that number shows up on one die, then the player gets one point. If if shows up on two dice, then the player gets three points. If the two dice rolls numbers that amount to the number guessed, then no point is granted. The first one to reach ten points wins the game. It’s up to you which game you will choose to play, although the passe-dix is the one with a structure made for betting.

The game requires the following equipment: the backgammon board, which has twelve long triangles on each side, called points; the dice – four dice is the standard number of dice that needs to be present in a game, even though only two dice are used for gameplay, so that there are substitute dice at hand; dice cups for the dice; and if desired, a backgammon clock, although using a clock will add extra rules to the game. For this discussion, let’s stick to the game without the clock in order to know the basics.
The game begins with both players rolling one die to see which one has the higher number. The one who achieves a higher number gets to go first, moving his checkers clockwise as the number on the die indicates. The second player does the same afterwards, and they each take turns in rolling the dice and moving their checkers from one point to another. When the dice are rolled, a player may choose to move only one checker based on the value of one die and then move it again based on the value of the other die, or he may move two checkers, one following the first die and the other following the second die. Players need to remember that a checker can only move into points that do not have their opponent’s checkers on it, with the exception of one checker. If only one checker is there, then a player can move his checker there and his opponent’s checker will be considered a “blot”. The blot shall be placed on the bar between the boards of the two players and can re-enter the board only after the dice is rolled again, and only through the opponent’s board.

When the checkers have made their way around the board and back into the board of the player, then the player can start bearing off his checkers – that is, removing the checkers from the board to his home base. This is still done by rolling the dice and following the numbers. Once all fifteen are on the base, that player wins the game.
The game relies greatly on chance because no one can predict what will come out of the rolled dice. At the same time, the game relies on a player’s strategy. Deciding which pieces to move when will help a player move his checker pieces faster, thus enabling the player to be able to bear off his pieces first and win the game. It is one of the oldest board games out there with simple mechanics for everyone to enjoy.

The game works this way: an illusionist sets up for the game. All he needs is a makeshift table – on the streets, this is just a shoebox where he can place the cards – or any flat surface, and three playing cards: the money card, and two monkey cards. The money card is usually a red card, and a queen, the common choice being the queen of hearts; the monkey cards, meanwhile, are the two other choices, which are usually black jacks or any rank of card for that matter, that is not another queen. These cards are usually black cards as well. The illusionist places these cards facedown after showing the player, and the goal is to be able to find the money card after the illusionist shuffles the three cards. If the player guesses right, then he wins.

If you will notice, I call the dealer an illusionist instead of a dealer. This is due to the fact that he does, indeed, use illusions in order to be able to effectively hide the card from an unsuspecting player. The techniques he uses require him to have nimble hands and a good amount of things to talk about while shuffling and placing the cards down. Merely shuffling the cards on the table is usually not enough, especially if your player is very observant; therefore, what the illusionist does is to pick the cards up a certain way and throw them down so that the player has no idea that a trick is being played already. This is because it is harder to observe the movement of the cards when the illusionist is holding them in his hands rather than when the cards are on the table. This ensures that the player does not get the choice right, and this ensures that the illusionist makes money from the game.

In a simple game of three-card monte, though, where these tricks are not applied, the concept of the Monty Hall problem can be applied. Since there are three cards, there is a 33.33% chance of winning, and once the dealer opens a monkey card then one’s chances of winning increase to 66.67% if the dealer offers the player to change cards and the player does change his choice. Then again, no game is ever kept this honest, so the probability of winning is not as promising as in a good, clean game that kids play.

This is one of the fastest ways to win (and, subsequently, lose) money because of the 50-50 chances of winning. Of course, this figure of probability only applies to a coin that has been checked for fairness. For those casual players, a regular currency coin works enough for the game, but the chances may not be 50-50 at all because of the irregularities in weight distribution when the coin was made. Having this imbalanced weight distribution may cause the coin to fall a certain way more times than it will fall the other way when it is tested for fairness. Those who offer it as a betting game, then, use a coin that has been manufactured to ensure a fair chance for the players to win – the coin’s weight is controlled so that there truly is a 50-50 chance of winning, and the discrepancies are limited to a minimum.

At the end of the game, the person who guesses right gets to win 200% of the money he bet on his choice, with an average of a 5% deduction (depending on the establishment) for the house. The one who loses only loses the money that he bet on that particular round. It’s quick and it’s easy but as mentioned earlier, be careful – it’s one of the fastest ways to win and lose money.

The setup for a game of razzle consists of a board with about 120 holes in them, and numbers which indicate the points for every hole. These points, when added up, correspond to a particular prize value, which is displayed on a chart where the players can see. To play the game, a player must pay a particular amount per roll, and he rolls eight marbles from a cup onto the board and waits to see where the balls fall. Each hole where the ball falls gives the player a point, and the trick to win is to play continuously in order to build up points. Since most of the holes either contain low values that do not amount to much in your game, and a good part of them contain bonus rounds, then a person is only coaxed to play more. However, each rounds costs ten percent of the payoff for that round, and the payoff rises each round, so your payment to roll rises for each round, but your odds of winning stay the same. The structure of the chart and the board do not make it possible for a person to win, and even if he does, he still spends a lot of money in the process.

This game is usually found in carnivals, and is not played as a professional game. It did have a history at the casino for awhile though – it was played in Havana casinos sometime in the past.

People who practice arbitage betting often use arbers in order to avoid getting caught. These arbers are people who place the bet on behalf of the bettor. This is because some events use the same bookmarkers, andthese bookmarkers do not allow double-betting for both teams. If there are different bookmarkers present, though, then arbitrage betting is accepted by these bookmarkers, because either way, at the end of the day, they still make their money. Still, to be safe, the bettors use arbers just in case these bookmarkers compare notes and figure out that that person has placed different bets on different outcomes in order to make the most profit.
