Mats Sundin

It was in September of 2009 that Mats Johan Sundin announced that he was putting an end to his brilliant twenty-year career as a professional ice hockey player, declaring his retirement on the 30th of the month. Before that, though, he has enjoyed a good twenty years of playing professional ice hockey. He is the first European ice hockey player to be drafted in an NHL team, the Quebec mat sundinNordiques, and he played for the Nordiques from the start of his career in 1989 up to 1994. It was mid-94 that he was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he made his name as a leading ice hockey player in the NHL. It was with the Maple Leafs that he achieved his 500th goal, and he holds most of the records in an NHL play by any Swedish player. It was also with the Maple Leafs that he became one of the greatest hockey players of all time. He ended his fourteen-year relationship with the Maple Leafs in 2008, when he transferred to the Vancouver Canucks, and it was with the Canucks that he displayed his traits as a team player. Instead of accepting a high-paying contract which would have put him down in history as the highest-paid ice hockey player of all time, he accepted a smaller contract to give leeway to the team in the future, in case they find a considerable talent to recruit for the improvement of their team.

Around the same time as his drafting in the Canucks, he also announced that he was playing for Team Pokerstars. He has been playing online already under the name MatsSundin, and as part of his deal he has to tour with the rest of the Team Pokerstars players to compete at live poker table tournaments. Sundin has been a winner since he began his career, and he intends to be a winner in this particular game as well. He has declared that he would be donating all of his winnings from the Pokerstars tour to charity. Again, here’s one team player you should not miss watching.
